Q: What’s your story?
I came to the United States from Lithuania when I was 9 years old and grew up in Hamden, Connecticut. I started working in the real estate industry in high school at the age of 16 as a leasing agent. I then moved on to property management, where I spent 12 years at a company handling around 400 apartments. I loved what I did, but dealing with tenant complaints led me to become burnt out.
I decided to obtain my real estate license and started doing just real estate. The transition was easy for me because I already knew the business inside-out. However, working on your own is a different story. Going from a solid structure to a day when you can do whatever you want is very hard because you have to be so motivated and organized, and there are days when you fall short. However, I would not change a thing. Once you find what you're good at, it's a great feeling.
Q: Why should a client choose you over the countless other realtors in CT?
I truly care about my clients' well-being. When COVID hit and the market became a seller's market with long lines at open houses and people skipping home inspections, I refused to work with clients who did that. I make sure I have my clients' back 1000% and I'm not out for money; I'm out for the well-being of my clients. Even if it means not making the extra money, it will sit on my conscience if I don't tell them about some small detail.
I will fight for my clients no matter what. I have even put clients' laundry away and made their bed for them before a showing – that's just what I do. I want people to like who they're working with because if they don't have a good experience, that really sucks. You're spending so much money on a home, and if that's not a good experience, it's just not worth it.
I strive to build a relationship with my clients so that they remember me. I like to check in with them and provide them with important information, such as what's going on in the market. If a client bought a house, I will tell them what their house is worth. I always put myself in the homeowner's shoes and ask myself what I would want from a realtor that would make me remember them.
