Q: Tell me about the beginning - How and why did you start the business?

In January 2005, I noticed that customer issues in the tech industry weren't being addressed efficiently. As someone with a background in technology, I decided to start my own business to provide better customer service. Initially, I focused on helping individuals, but eventually shifted my focus to exclusively serving businesses. I established an MSP (Managed Service Provider) company that specializes in maintaining the IT infrastructure of companies. This includes cybersecurity, daily upkeep, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of their technology environment.

Q: Who is your ideal client?

Our ideal client is a company in the Hartford County area with approximately 25 to 50 users. While we serve clients throughout Connecticut, proximity is important because it allows us to provide in-person support for physical problems or installations. We find that firms with this user range tend to understand the importance of cybersecurity and prioritize it within their operations.

Q: How do you convince someone of the need for cybersecurity?

To emphasize the importance of cybersecurity, we offer a comprehensive cyber risk assessment before onboarding a new client. This assessment allows us to conduct a thorough evaluation of their IT environment, similar to a visit to the doctor. We identify any security gaps, assess the current state of their cybersecurity, and determine if there have been any breaches. We present a detailed report to the client, highlighting the significance of cybersecurity. Cyber risks have escalated significantly in recent years, with heightened sophistication among attackers. Antivirus software alone is no longer sufficient to combat these threats. Breaches can lead to severe financial and legal consequences, including costly notifications to clients and potential audits. By proactively implementing top-tier security measures, we aim to minimize the risk of breaches and protect our client's valuable data.

Q: How do you acquire new clients?

A: We have a professional website that clearly outlines our services, and we are continuously working on improving our search engine optimization (SEO) to attract more organic traffic. Networking has also been a successful strategy for acquiring new clients. We prioritize responsiveness and maintain strong relationships with existing clients. Additionally, our official designation with CPAC (Connecticut Procurement Technical Assistance Center) helps connect us with government agencies that require IT coordination. We are actively pursuing opportunities to expand our client base.

Q: What is your number one service offering?

Our top service offering is cybersecurity. We provide comprehensive solutions to protect companies from cyber threats. Additionally, we offer managed IT services, including monitoring security, implementing security tools, and assisting with various technological needs such as server installation, networking, and computer setups. We also help clients obtain cyber insurance to mitigate potential financial risks associated with cyber incidents. Our goal is to provide a holistic approach to IT support and cybersecurity, ensuring our clients' businesses are secure and resilient.

Q: Looking ahead 6 months to a year, where would you like to see your business?

I envision our MSP becoming a leader in cybersecurity within the state, expanding our client base to encompass various industries such as law firms, dental and medical practices, and real estate agencies. We strive to continually grow and improve our cybersecurity and business continuity services. Our focus is on helping clients navigate the complexities of their IT environments, which extend beyond computers to encompass telephony systems and security cameras. We aim to provide comprehensive technological support and ensure our clients' businesses are protected and equipped for success.
